Features and Benefits of Supporting Mesilla Valley CASA

Imagine what it would be like to lose your parents because they can't - or won't - take care of you. In that situation, you would be thrown into the justice system where dozens of strangers take over control of your life: police, foster parents, therapists, social workers, judges, lawyers and more. If you are *lucky*, one of those strangers is a CASA advocate

CASA volunteers watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children to make sure they don't get lost in the overburdened legal system or languish in an inappropriate group or foster home. For many children, the CASA volunteer will be the one consistent adult presence, in their life in the System.

CASA advocates deal with some of the most difficult and heart wrenching situations you can imagine. They are not paid. They do this because they care for some of the most vulnerable children in the community. CASA Advocates are some of the most dedicated and committed people you will ever meet.

Today there are 53,847 volunteers in more than 948 local programs across the country. In Dona Ana County, there are 85 volunteers, and last year, they helped 242 abused and neglected children in foster care. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or would like to make a monetary donation to Mesilla Valley CASA please contact us at (575)527-0035.
